Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods is a 51-acre arts and culture park located in the heart of Downtown Columbia in Howard County, Maryland.  Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods features the Chrysalis, a high performance stage, park pavilion, and sculpture.  The Chrysalis presents performances, including commercial ticketed, non-commercial ticketed, and free and open to the public events.  The Park is also home to forest, meadows, turf areas, and streams available for public enjoyment and which may, from time to time, be licensed for specific events.

Join the Columbia Orchestra for a free Concert on June 19, 2018 at the chrysalis

The whole family will love classic film scores by John Williams, A Salute to Andrew Lloyd Webber, hits by Billy Joel, music from Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman, patriotic songs, and the ultimate outdoor classic: The 1812 Overture! Bring your lawn chair or blanket and picnic dinner but no glass containers or alcohol.  Food and beverage  from the food truck Pasta La Vista Baby will be available for purchase. This concert will last approximately 90 minutes including a 10-minute intermission. A limited number of lawn chairs will be available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of handicapped parking spaces may be reserved by calling 410-465-8777.  Monetary donations to support The Community Foundation of Howard County’s Relief Fund for the 2018 Ellicott City flood will be collected.

No tickets are needed for this event! Patrons who reserved parking by noon on Friday should have received parking passes via email.

Unreserved parking is available in the garage of Lot 4.

From points north: Take 29 South to 175 West (Columbia). Continue as 175 becomes Little Patuxent Parkway, for approximately 1.8 miles. Pass Mall Access Road. Make a right at the first short cross street after Mall Access Road. Make a right at the T-Junction (directly in front of 40 Corporate Center).  Signage and parking staff will direct those without reserved parking (overflow parking) to a structured garage.

From points south: Take 29 North to Broken Land Parkway towards Town Center / Merriweather Post Pavilion. Make a right onto Little Patuxent Parkway, continue approximately 0.3 miles. Make a left at the second cross street. Make a right at the T-Junction (directly in front of 40 Corporate Center).  Signage and parking staff will direct those without reserved parking (overflow parking) to a structured garage.

Food and beverage available for purchase.  You may bring a picnic, but no alcohol (beer and wine available for purchase) and no glass.  Please leave your pets at home.  Service animals always welcome.

The Inner Arbor Trust is pleased to announce its free 2018 Chrysalis Kids Series in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods.  These family events run from April through September, and presented in partnership with Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Columbia Association, Inc., and is sponsored by Columbia-based ReThink Water, creators of the first organic, zero sugar, zero artificial flavor, zero sodium kid’s water box.  The series starts on Saturday April 21st with a free concert by Milkshake, a Grammy award winning children’s band.
