Culture Queen

Culture Queen is an award-winning teaching artist, children’s musician, author and arts manager, who creates empowering entertainment for children! She is the founder of Culture Kingdom Kids, LLC, where since 2010, Culture Queen has produced innovative Black History-themed children’s performances, festivals, and professional development programs at schools, libraries, restaurants, malls, theaters and museums across the country.

As part of Chrysalis Kids, she held a vibrant, interactive dance party with guests, introducing them to classic dance moves from the past and helping each child find their own signature dance move to showcase!

Slim Harrison & the Sunnyland Band

For over 40 years, Slim has performed at Schools and Festivals, Hoedowns & Throwdowns all over North America and around the world. Considered a "Self-taught" multi-instrumentalist, storyteller & Barn Dance caller, Slim says his greatest joy is sharing the music & dances of America and the world with children & adults.

At Chrysalis Kids, children learned about the rich heritage of traditional folk music, stories, and dances before they joined the “Sunnnyland Band" and played along on spoons, jugs, washboards, African tambourines, Cajun frattrois, Native American whammy-diddles, Chinese "Gao" bead drums, Latin maracas, castanuelas & guiros!

Noa Baum

Storytelling is the intersection of her work as a performance artist, author, and educator. She focuses on the transformative power of storytelling both as performance art and an applicable tool to heal across differences and build bridges of understanding, compassion and peace. Her art form can be described as Performance Storytelling – borrowing from principles of traditional storytelling as well as using tools from theater through the mixing of narration and characterization to evoke a story in the audiences’ imagination.

At Chrysalis Kids, Noa led an interactive storytelling session that included guests dancing and playing along with the stories and songs.
