Howard County AAPI Festival
Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods has been proud to host Howard County's annual AAPI Festival for the past five years. Presented in partnership with Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, the Office of Human Rights and Equity, and the AAPI Commission, this celebration of community and culture is always one of the highlights of the year!
Performances
Each year, more than 200 performers take the stage to perform traditional and modern cultural dances, songs, and martial arts. From small groups performing on instruments, to huge dance numbers with elaborate costumes and choreography, the Chrysalis showcases a wide variety of artistic presentations from across the AAPI Communities.
Parade of Cultures
The Festival opens each year with a Parade of Cultures through the park, highlighting clothing, musical instruments, fans, scarves, and other items.
In 2026, nearly 200 individuals participated in the parade, including a number of artists who presented original performances within the parade.
Food Vendors
The food vendors at the AAPI Festival are always one of the highlights of the celebration!
2026 featured macarons, cakes, ice cream, snow cones, pho, biryani, gua bao, momos, tandoori, Korean BBQ, curry, kabobs, and much, much more.
Vendors and Exhibitors
Each year, vendors and exhibitors line the pathways of the park.
More than 50 exhibitors, including non-profits, small businesses, and government offices and departments provided information and resources.
While more than a dozen vendors sold snacks, hand-crafted furniture, jewelry, and more!
