Please join us for the premiere event of the Movement in Music Ensemble! Originally inspired by the world-renowned performances at the University of Maryland by artistic director, James Ross, and choreographer Liz Lerman, the musicians of MIME formed to create similar works involving a moving and playing orchestra. Unlike any other professional orchestral concert in history, MIME presents works that will be not only memorized and unconducted, but also choreographed. Other orchestras have done similar works involving dancers or other theater performers while the orchestra plays, but no orchestra has had the actual players moving about the stage while playing their instruments. From selections of Mendelssohn, Bartok, Barber, and others, the orchestra will play part of the program seated in traditional set-up and part of the program moving in choreographed imagery. Children under 18 are welcome for free with an adult, and please bring a chair!
